- A member of your group may try unhygienic food items which can lead to food poisoning.
- Personal items or documents can get lost.
- Luggage can get stolen.
- Flights can be cancelled or postponed due to severe weather or other reasons.
- A member of your group may miss a flight due to any number of reasons.
Claiming Group Travel Insurance
If any member of your travel group has any problem mentioned or any other covered in the policy, you need to know how you can make a claim your group travel insurance. The procedure may vary slightly from company to company.
- Write the rough claim details down on a paper or on your PC. Make sure that the claim is registered within a month of the completion of the vacation. It is recommended you write a rough claims draft so that if you feel you left out any information you can add it in later.
- As soon as you finalize all your details, send it to your insurer through post, email or online claims forms. You can also call the insurance company and narrate all the details to them. Written claims are highly recommended because it is easier to keep it in records.
- Your insurance company will also ask you personal details for security purposes.
- The underwriters will examine your claim and do an investigation to verify the claim. They might ask you to provide them with documents to further authenticate your claim.
- Once satisfied, the underwriters will then consent your claim and send you the payment. The investigation can last from anywhere to a week to a month, depending on the nature of the claim.
- If you are dissatisfied with the way your claim is being handled, you always have the option of contacting The Association of British Insurers. You also have the option of contacting the Financial Ombudsman.
